The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe and effective use of medications for patients admitted to London Health Sciences Centre. In meeting this responsibility, the Pharmacist reviews and monitors drug therapy; interacts with patients, physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals to resolve drug related problems; and counsels and educates patients regarding drug therapy. Pharmacists also participate in the training and preceptorship of undergraduate and resident Pharmacist students.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $44.29 per hour - $55.37 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am-6:00pm

The prescription centres at Victoria Hospital serve a wide variety of populations and staff members of LHSC. Owned by LHSC, proceeds from the prescription centre directly support patient-care programs and services across the entire hospital.

Qualifications

  • Honours Baccalaureate Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD or equivalent academic credential from an accredited School of Pharmacy or successful completion of the International Pharmacy Graduate Program
  • Registered as an ‘A’ Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists and Professional Liability Insurance as prescribed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Certified in injection administration
  • Holds a current standard first aid & CPR certification
  • Proficiency in Kroll Pharmacy Computer System an asset
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Demonstrates excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Demonstrates ability to interact effectively with customers, patients and other healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrates knowledge of retail pharmacy billing is an asset
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and decision-making skills in a variety of situations
  • Demonstrates effective organizational skills involving time management
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to providing principles of patient and family-centred care
  • Demonstrates willingness to participate in minor ailments prescribing
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
  • Demonstrates ability to attend work regularly

Immunization Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(Chicken Pox). In addition candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
