We are looking for a Montreal based Technical Product Owner interested in pioneering the way in growing and evolving our flagship product “Connect” built on the Microsoft Azure platform ecosystem in a cloud-native and microservices architecture.


Job Description:


Reporting to the Director of Product, the Technical Product Owner (TPO) is pivotal to development squads short- and long-term operations and execution.


As a member of the Product group, you will:


Be central to the Product and Engineering operations at Montrium.


  • Define the end-to-end execution of the product development, supporting the business & customer-centricity from discovery to support.
  • Take the lead of scrum teams as the TPO while working in collaboration with all technical and support functions under Engineering and Montrium.
  • Host and participate in collaborative workshops with technical teams and subject matter experts to facilitate creativity, problem framing, and alignment of strategic direction.
  • The TPO is the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and development teams.
  • Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries and requests related to the product development.
  • Works in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.
  • Build, manage, and prioritize product backlogs, weighing priorities according to the needs and objectives of stakeholders.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to identify and organize the steps required for the next iteration and manage expectations.
  • As product backlog change frequently, the TPO must make the backlog accessible and available to all stakeholders (particularly developers) to ensure optimized performance and product outcomes.
  • Develop appropriately detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development teams.
  • Build and present bi-weekly burndown and velocity chart to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure synergy with other parallel initiatives to ensure optimum outcomes.
  • Define, govern & report success indicators on the journey to delivering value.
  • Work with internal and external customers to analyze and understand their goals, their preferences and discover insights through continuous customer, user, and stakeholder engagement and data analysis.
  • Build hands-on experience of the Montrium product line.
  • Work in close collaboration with Development, CX, and Quality teams to ensure that appropriate attention is given to 'Reliability Engineering'.
  • Write technical system documentation (e., Change Controls, Configuration Specifications) based on the solution’s Requirements document in support of Product and development initiatives.
  • Possible domestic and international travel may occur on occasions in support of Product mandates.

  • Participate in Product and Engineering strategic and operational planning to achieve business objectives by driving innovation, prioritizing digital initiatives, the assessment, and implementation of current and future product evolutions.
  • Achieve operational service objectives and levels within the team.
  • Keep informed of Digital & Cloud industries trends, cybersecurity, and related emerging technologies.
  • Help advance the team's software development and DevOps practices.
  • Remain informed of Agile, Lean startup best practices and new trends.
  • Ensure compliance of all operations with safety, regulatory and legal policies, and guidelines.
  • Proactively identify non-conformances and potential areas for improvement and facilitate the development and deployment of standard solutions with an eye towards scalability.

Experience:


  • Equivalent of a university degree in software science or information technology with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development lifecycle as part of a SaaS/Technology company.
  • Knowledge of the Life Sciences industry is an asset but not a requirement however, a keen interest to learn and incorporate industry knowledge is a key focus of this position (GxP compliance, US FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EudraLex Volume 4 Annex 11, GAMP and other regulations and laws)
  • Knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment.
  • Previous professional experience as a Team Lead or Product Owner an asset.
  • Scripting & Software programing experience (.NET, C#).
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Services, Microservices, Data Analytics, IT Infrastructure, and operations, including environment stand up, server builds, firewalls, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices regarding information security (claims, SAML, ADFS, SSO, MFA, etc.).
  • Microsoft Azure fundamentals certifications an asset (AZ-900, AI-900 and DP-900)
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle in conjunction with DevOps, DevSecOps, SRE, SCRUM and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with diagram building tools such as Miro, Lucid Chart or Visio

  • Written and spoken fluency in English and French is essential (other languages are an asset).
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, team-player, ability to integrate well with others and capacity to lead by influence and broker consensus.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and questioning existing practices.
  • Ability to provide technical briefings to various groups and engineers.
