The Assistant General Manager is responsible for optimizing operations in the FOH by ensuring all food and beverage meets Fresh expectations and creating a best-in-class experience for all Fresh guests and staff. The ideal manager would be a resourceful, process-oriented problem solver, who can communicate clearly while working in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail and organizational skills.

What Are We Looking For?


  • Has flexible availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays according to restaurant needs
  • At least 2 years of serving and/or bartending experience in a high volume restaurant environment
  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Motivated learner when it comes to technology, software and restaurant operations
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Has a SmartServe certification (or willingness to certify)

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assists the General Manager in maintaining an inspection ready restaurant including retail, eat-in and storage areas at all times
  • Manages the FOH team by approving FOH punches, performing onboarding and offboarding tasks, updating the schedule, training on steps of service, product knowledge, etc. and contributing to performance improvement
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the happenings within the FOH both financially and physically
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by expediting in the kitchen, sharing product knowledge and assisting with inventory and deliveries to avoid shortages
  • Completes and applies learning and development initiatives management training such as diversity and inclusion, procedures, skill development, etc.
  • Acts as a role model for all of Fresh’s standards and policies including attendance, code of conduct, positive attitude, uniform policy, etc.
  • Participates in the resume screening and interview stages of the hiring cycle of all FOH staff
  • Improves employee retention by coaching and committing to the growth and development of FOH staff
  • Emphasizes safety, sanitation and security awareness for employees’ physical and mental wellbeing
  • Heads the pre-shift meetings when GM is not present, ensuring the team is informed and engaged
  • Completes tasks assigned by the General Manager while remaining accountable for the overall FOH team
  • Attends manager meetings and is prepared to participate by actively listening and encourages and includes the opinions of others
  • Represents the Fresh brand positively when communicating with vendors, suppliers, employees and guests
  • Works with the Repairs & Maintenance Manager to keep equipment and front area in good standing and following up as needed
  • Resolves guest complaints and escalations regarding allergies and food quality, both in person and over the phone
  • Checks the logs, systems and procedures such as cleaning log, point of sale, cash reports, delivery applications, to confirm they are completed to specifications
  • Keeps accurate and detailed records of the workplace happenings through clear logbook entries
  • Contributes to planning for increased morale, engagement and satisfaction among employees
  • Brainstorms strategies to improve consistency, eliminate waste
  • Achieves operations within budget sets and reviews budgets with Senior Management
