Job Description

Construction Surveyor will be responsible for the data collection, interpretation, and conversion with a strong capability to perform layout using this information. This individual should have survey experience in heavy civil construction with a strong understanding of road construction, sewers and watermains, and bridge structures. Use a Global Positioning System (GPS) survey instrument to collect Geographic Information data quickly and accurately and process the information using sophisticated data handling software to assure accuracy and quality control.

Using project control points, robotic total stations, and real-time Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), this individual would have the capability to perform construction layout services, earthwork calculations, control surveys, road template creation, topographic surveys, pre-bid quantity confirmation, as-built surveys and monitoring surveys. Perform layout for; earth excavation; sewer and water; granular, curb and gutter; sidewalk; pathways; guiderail; staging; culverts; structures; etc… with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Provide horizontal and Vertical Layout for all components and types of construction projects. Capability to create digital files for field layout with a GPS system. Also use industry standard software packages to assist with construction material quantity and volume calculations. Use project calculations to plan for payment certificates.

 Road template creation

 Produce cut/fill drawings for earthworks

 Horizontal & vertical control surveys

 Verification of existing features for tie-ins

 Surface and end-area quantity calculations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience surveying heavy civil construction projects
  • Thorough ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Proficiency working with GNSS and GPS, and modern survey equipment
  • Experienced converting drawing information into a GPS coordinate system for layout

The successful candidate would have experience working on Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and municipal projects having an excellent understanding of MTO and municipal drawings in various formats. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and include a comprehensive benefit package.

Salary: $18.56-$50.93 per hour
