BUSINESS / SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST – HEALTH SYSTEMS - JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for experienced Business Analysts with Canadian healthcare experience and/or background to join our team.

The role:

This permanent, full time role requires a range of skills and competencies for various client and project work. In this role your responsibilities will include working directly with healthcare clients, gathering, analyzing, and documenting information and requirements, synthesizing information into documentation, creating reports and communication material, developing clinical and/or operational strategies, conducting health systems research, and interfacing with external clinical and non-clinical subject matter experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business analysis and clinical health systems subject matter expertise, with the ability to provide in-depth knowledge of clinical workflows, products, business process logic, and data definitions
  • Create detailed requirements and manage translation of requirements into technical and non-technical specifications, including the creation of documentation, test plan development, and testing support
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate business requirements gathering sessions, facilitate systems design sessions, create business process documents outlining current and future state models and use case documentation
  • Facilitate system design sessions (JAD) and create/author business requirement documents (BRD), functional requirement documents (FRD), business architecture documents, use cases, user requirement specification (URS) documents, process documentation, and workflow documentation
  • Develop business processes and workflow diagrams using BPMN and DMN to outline current and future solution state models, including data flow diagrams and activity diagrams
  • Conduct Business Analysis Assessments (BAA) and develop Business Continuity Plans (BCP)
  • Conduct gap analyses identifying areas of need and opportunities to eliminate redundant processes
  • Partner closely with project teams and business users to support various projects and workflows
  • Support analytics teams and user groups in defining data tracking, collection, and extract/reporting requirements
  • Analyze data and reports and uncover insights that provide business and client value
  • Proactively engage and maintain strong stakeholder and client relationships, acting as a change agent, influencing team and project implementation methodologies, including identification of project risks and mitigation items
  • Coordinate BA team requirements specification reviews and walkthroughs to ensure clarity and completeness
  • Assist in the development and documentation of test case scenarios to validate logic for test rules and cases and work collaboratively with teams to provide internal training material
  • Support the development of annual operating plans, capital budgets and forecasts, and build business cases for new business initiatives (cost/benefit analysis)

Qualifications / Skills:

  • At least 10 years’ experience performing business analysis / analyst functions with at least 5 years’ experience in clinical health / healthcare / health systems settings
  • Strong understanding of and experience in business analyst scope of practice / work / activities including strong familiarity with BABOK framework and principles
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following markets: clinical decision support, provider workflows, electronic health records, electronic prior authorization, or real-time prescription benefits is considered an asset
  • Familiarity working with / analyzing data using Excel (including pivots, lookups, etc)
  • Demonstrated / proven experience developing, maintaining, and completing requirement and operational documents, reports, specifications, plans, and analysis
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven experience working within cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to report and presentation detail is critical; must have significant experience synthesizing material and information into cogent, well-constructed presentations and material
