Position Details:

This is a mobile Building Operator position where you will be expected to be versatile, self-organized and resourceful. This is a great, permanent FT opportunity for someone who's already got solid building maintenance and repair skills and is ready to join in with an upward company that has the potential and the plan to grow.

Every workday is different and provides variety. All maintenance and repair work that you perform must adhere to safe work practices, procedures and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Respond to pre-approved work orders and ensure their full and effective completion.
  • Visit properties as scheduled to perform site inspections, complete detailed checklists and ensure site logbooks and records are maintenance and up to date.
  • Respond to maintenance-related emergencies with efficiency and confidence.
  • Help maintain all assigned buildings, suites, equipment and grounds.
  • Assist with obtaining pricing for various maintenance services, projects, supplies, and equipment.
  • Inspect fire, life, and safety systems; and inform facility manager as needed.
  • Ensure all utility and storage rooms are in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair duties adhering to safe work practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Interface with clients and tenants politely and professionally always.
  • Assess the job that needs to be done and complete it in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Complete all routine and preventative maintenance work orders within scheduled timelines.
  • Help maintain all assigned buildings, suites, equipment, and grounds.
  • Respond to maintenance-related emergencies with efficiency and confidence.
  • Carry out any other routine maintenance and general repair duties as required. For example: Faucet and toilet repair, zone valve and thermostat replacement, drywall repair, painting, baseboards, furniture assembly, light switch & ballast replacement, locksmith, door and window repair, etc.

Essential Requirements:

  • At least three (3) years of commercial building operating experience.
  • Must have valid ABSA 5th class power engineering certificate.
  • Knowledge of building HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building automation systems and life safety systems.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on building maintenance & repair handyman skills.
  • Able to work well independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team.
  • Must be productive, able to prioritize work, and adhere to project schedules.
  • Must be punctual, highly organized, and work well under pressure.
  • Possess strong health and safety mindset. (E.g., building codes, by-laws, health & safety specifications; and client's policies and procedures.)
  • Communicate with the dispatcher for assignments, and consistently update our work-order management system (e.g., hours, materials, and equipment used per job site).
  • Proficient with smartphones/tablets, solid working knowledge of hand and power tools, and power equipment operations.
  • Fluent English oral and written communication.

Other Requirements:

  • Transportation: Own a reliable and appropriate vehicle.
  • Own hand and power tools, and a smartphone.
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License with clean drivers abstract. No criminal record.
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm, and be physically able to lift, push/pull and carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Be available for on-call duty to respond to emergency situations after hours and weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • A Plumbing and/or HVAC ticket is definitively considered an asset.
