In collaboration with the Director, the Manager, Accessibility Coaching manages a team of Accessibility Coaches and delegates work to staff. The Manager will work with the Director to make decisions affecting the budget to strive to balance the budget and efficiently utilize the human and financial resources available to meet the needs of Durham College students.
The Manager ensures that the team of Accessibility Coaches in ASC successfully assist students with exceptionalities in identifying a pathway to educational equity and implementing strategies for completion of their college goals. The team of coaches determine reasonable accommodations in consideration of the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s “Guidelines on Accommodating Persons with a Disability” and coach students in building partnerships for success. The incumbent must be knowledgeable about types of exceptionalities, reasonable accommodations for post-secondary education, adaptive technologies, disability legislation and resources. This position requires extensive student contact both one-one and in small groups, dynamic problem-solving, communication and collaboration with college faculty, support staff and administrators as well as contact with community resources, school boards and students’ individual support systems.
Salary: $77,520 – $96,900
